email & me (if it's pressing, just call please)
me: i kinda hate email. have i ever told you that?
my mom: no, i thought you loved email! you don't?
me: no, i kinda hate it. it's pretty much a necessity for me but i don't really like it. [example] if you want me to respond within, like, an hour, [or even a day] email is not the best way to reach me.
my mom: me too. that's why i stopped using my email. you should tell people you are only going to check it once a week.
me: or once a day.
re: comments
I like this approach and it is the better way to address “commenting” on the web, but, it sets the “usability” threshold very high. I love my content and I love my readers (all 10 of them) but the point of this personal broadcast is for who I am to be accessible to the widest range. Maybe, somewhere down the road, when teaching the “Internet” in schools is adjusted and it is common practice to...

Adam Greenfield on the inherent badness of large scale social networking services. — thatguyben quite interesting. but the article writer really needs to change his background or font color or something. eh. i hate reading small white letters on black. or maybe that is just my pet-peeve.

153 mph wind speed
that’s what the wind speed ended up being - 153 mph. wow! ummm, i guess that is why so many people lost their roofs and their was so much damage. i just got a myspace message asking if we had a chainsaw and could help with an aquaintance’s aunt and uncle who had 4 huge trees down in their yard and 1 through their house. (answer is yes) last i heard, 13 people died in oregon and...

winds over 115 mph at my house →
“Pacific Ocean waves are expected to peak at 45 to 50 feet.” they closed the bar and anyone stupid enough to go out in the ocean during the storm will not be rescued by the coastguard. hopefully nobody is that stupid. this is the beginning of crabbing season but everybody we know that is crabbing has come in cause of the storm. “Winds over coastal water and at exposed beaches...

getting my fix
getting my internet fix. another big storm is supposed to hit. tonight i think. but the strongest winds will be tomorrow. i thought we already had our big storm for the year but this one is supposed to have gusts of 100 mph so we’ll see if it’s as big of a deal as everyone is making it out to be. they actually are using the term “hurricane force winds” this time which is...
