it was a big storm (120 mph wind) but we are all okay. :) i can’t believe it but finally things are almost back to normal. we got power again today!!! woohoo. and our phones and cell phones started working again yesterday. i have never felt so disconnected. days without 911 working even or the ability to make or receive a phone call to/from [town 5 miles away] or anywhere else. i think we all are going to invest in generators!! hahaha. but seriously, our power is out too often and there is already another 70+ mph wind storm on its way.
[most of my county] is still out of power. i am shocked that [my town] (for once) got restored early. and just beyond excited to have power and phone and internet again and to be able to start resuming normal life!
it was crazy though. by far the worst storm i have ever been in. sunday night the wind was so loud and it sounded like everything was getting ripped apart outside. i don’t think anybody in the area got any sleep that night. trees down everywhere. on house and vehicles. covering the road. days before anybody could make it out on the highways. no gas or supplies available. we were siphoning from [my hubby’s] boat for a while. power lines down over the road everywhere. my parents had multiple huge trees knocked down on their road so the only way to get in or out was to hike. the main power from boneville dam was damaged in the storm which is a lot of why the power has been so difficult to restore. 911 access was broken and so was calling outside of your exchange because phone lines to the outside world were cut in 3 locations. i don’t know of that ever happening before.
it was intense.
