wyatt has been having trouble sleeping lately. part of being 3 (who wants to miss out on the fun while you are sleeping?? :) ) and partly from being sick and getting his schedule all messed up.

he really, really still needs naps. this is shown over and over again by what happens when he doesn’t take them…whatever time at night he falls asleep (doesn’t matter if it is 7:30 pm or 11:00 pm) he has a very hard time settling down for sleep because he is sleep deprived by that point and when he does fall asleep he sleeps a few hours and then wakes up and can’t go back to sleep. essentially he turns night-time sleep into nap-time sleep. not good. when he gets an afternoon nap he goes to bed at a decent hour and sleeps right through the night…

he didn’t have a nap yesterday so last night he woke up at 3:00am and was up for a few hours before going back to sleep. ::sigh:: which makes for a tired little boy and tired parents as well.

i drove him around in the car for a nap today. he fought sleeping for a while but is peacefully slumbering now. :) yay!! i am here sitting in my car in front of my house with my laptop - on the internet and listening to satellite radio and the sound of rain drops on the windshield.

it is lovely.
